US-China trade talks in London on Monday will continue on Tuesday morning. It is reported that the US is seeking China's confirmation to resume key mineral exports, and the market is optimistic about the progress achievable in the negotiations.
US stocks remained mostly steady on Monday. The S&P 500 approached a record high, closing up 5 points at 6,005. The DJIA closed down just 1 point at 42,761. The Nasdaq rose 61 points or 0.3% to 19,591 at close, rallying for the second consecutive day.
Tesla (TSLA.US) was downgraded by two investment banks on Monday, and US President Donald Trump reiterated that he has not yet considered calling CEO Elon Musk. Nevertheless, the company's stock price crossed the finish line up 4.6%.
Qualcomm (QCOM.US) agreed to acquire London-listed chip company Alphawave IP Group for USD2.4 billion in cash to hone its AI-related technology capabilities. Its stock price soared 4.1%. Most chip stocks were on an uptrend. AMD (AMD.US) and Nvidia (NVDA.US) also grew nearly 5% and 0.6%, respectively.
